Carlos Carvalhal hopes that Saturday’s poor home display and defeat to Ipswich was just a blip in our bid to win promotion at the end of the season.
After witnessing the 2-1 defeat, Carvalhal said: “We must accept that we didn’t perform at our level and I hope that will be an exception.
“We were lacking energy and hit a wall. We must be more dynamic and have a different attitude.
“They were very compact and, to open up this kind of team, we need to move the ball very well and create spaces.
“We didn’t pose a real threat to the opponents, but we didn’t deserve to lose the game. We didn’t deserve to win, either.”
He added: “We didn’t perform well – it was a very bad day.
“It was an exception to the run that we have been on. The performance was a shadow of how we have been playing more recently.
“We know we have not played well today and we need to be better. We need to be more aggressive all over the pitch.”
