Carvalhal ready to shuffle pack for cup tie

Wednesday are set to make changes for Sunday’s FA Cup third round trip to Middlesbrough.

Carlos Carvalhal has tended to field weakened sides for the cup competitions in his time at Hillsborough and, although facing Premier League opposition in Boro, the head coach will have one eye on the Championship clash with Huddersfield the following week and take the opportunity to omit some players after the busy festive period.

Kieran Lee is ruled out after his hip surgery, Barry Bannan and Sam Hutchinson are both expected to be left out because of on-going injury niggles while other regulars may well be rested.

Joe Wildsmith could get a starting place in goal while Liam Palmer, Jose Semedo, Vincent Sasso, Modou Sougou, Atdhe Nuhiu, Lucas Joao, Callum McManaman and David Jones may all get places in the starting line-up.

New signing Morgan Fox is cup tied while we could find themselves up against Boro striker Jordan Rhodes, who is once again reported to be a possible transfer target for ourselves in the January window.
