Carlos: The pride I feel for my players

Carlos Carvalhal has spoken of the pride he has for the Wednesday squad as they prepare for Sunday’s S6 showdown with Sheffield United.

The head coach: “I am very proud of all our players. We are at a point where I can say I die to our players and my players die to me … and to our coaching staff.

“The players have a big commitment and strong feeling for each other.”

Carvalhal stressed the importance of this togetherness and of the battling qualities of the team to win games, adding: “This is something that will stay in my heart for all my life. These kind of things are more important than money.”

Looking towards Sunday’s game, Carvalhal said: “These games are unpredictable. You don’t have favourites in derbies.

“We don’t change anything we have been doing for weeks, months, years in preparing for this game. The focus is the same.”

Carvalhal also said that Sam Hutchinson and Almen Abdi are now back in full training after injury and that Glenn Loovens has resumed light training.
