Carlos hails great team effort at Blackburn

Carlos Carvalhal spoke of the “fantastic teamwork” that led to Wednesday’s single goal win at Ewood Park on Tuesday evening.

After seeing the Owls seal our first away victory on the road this season, the head coach spoke of Wednesday’s different style for this particular game – a more tactical and organised plan – to nullify the opposition.

He said: “We created three very clear chances in the first half and scored one through a fantastic goal from Fletcher.

“In the second half we closed the windows and doors and this made it tough for the opponents to play.”

Carvalhal said they still had three or four situations on the counter attack in the second half where they had time and space to do better but added that the team is not so used to playing in this way and believes we will improve in future when asked to use this style of play again.

He was full of praise for strikers Steven Fletcher and Gary Hooper – and their replacements Fernando Forestieri and Atdhe Nuhiu during the second half –
talking of the overall “fantastic teamwork” and added: “We  deserved the win in a difficult game against difficult opposition.”
