Bruce moves for trio on first day at S6

Steve Bruce has wasted no time in looking to strengthen the Wednesday squad with three new faces set to join the club on his first day at S6.

Bruce revealed at his press conference on Thursday that he was targeting new players to sign before the transfer window closes later in the evening.

Then came the news that a permanent deal was in the offing for Wolves defender Dominic Iorfa, along with loan moves for Newcastle pair Achraf Lazaar and Rolando Aarons.

Right back Iora, 23, joined the Wolves academy as a 15-year-old and has played 93 times for the club, also making 21 appearances on loan at Ipswich last season.

Moroccan-born Lazaar, 27, is a left-back who has made just 10 appearances for Newcastle since signing for them in a five-year deal from Palermo in 2016. He spent last season on loan at Italian club side, Benevento, who were relegated from Serie A at the end of the campaign.

Twenty-three-year-old Aarons is a left winger who joined Newcastle as a youngster in 2012 and has made 27 appearances since 2014.

He is Jamaica-born but has played for the England under-20s.
