Bruce full of praise after ‘bounce back’ win

Steve Bruce praised his team for the way they bounced back from the disappointment of Saturday’s late defeat to Villa with a
3-0 victory against Forest

Bruce was forced to make changes from the Wednesday side that took on Villa, with injuries to Barry Bannan and Dominic Iorfa and Sam Hutchinson suffering sickness but, speaking after the Forest win, he said: “I’m delighted for all of them, delighted for the group. Saturday was hard to take, you know, they didn’t deserve the way that game ended but they’ve shown their character tonight.

“We had to make a few changes but the boys who came in have done themselves proud. I said to them when I came into the building a couple of months ago, ‘you will all get your chance’ and it’s really pleasing to see players take that chance.

“I think we had a little bit of the rub tonight that we didn’t have on Saturday and sometimes that can be the difference.”

We now sit four points from the play-offs with only five matches to play, leaving Bruce to say: “Look at last Saturday. If the result had gone for us then what might have been, who knows.”

He added: “We have probably got to win all of our remaining matches. We’ve got to play Leeds away and Norwich away but with the kind of form we’re in I don’t think anyone will relish playing against us at the minute.”
