Borner set for Rovers return

Julian Borner is expected to slot back into the Wednesday defence for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn.

Borner missed last weekend’s draw with Leeds after turning an ankle in the warm-up but he has been back in training this week and Garry Monk says he will be fit for the Ewood Park clash.

Monk is also hopeful that Massimo Luongo, who missed the Leeds match with the knee injury picked up in the previous midweek against Stoke. will be ready to return but the manager says, if not, then the midfielder should be ready for the Swansea home game the following week.

Blackburn go into the game on the back of a six-match winless run while Wednesday have lost just one league game in eight under Monk.

However, the manager warned: “We are preparing and expecting a difficult game. A tough game physically and they have good players.

“They are in a difficult patch but we also know the capabilities of them.”

He added: “You have to be ready for every single game in the Championship. We have to be at our maximum to get anything out of the game and we are preparing like that.”

Tom Lees is expected to get a runout for the under-23s next week after his lengthy lay-off with a hamstring problem and David Bates is likely to be back in training next week following his hip injury.
