Big blow for Owls as Antonio ruled out for season

Michail Antonio will miss the rest of the season after being stretchered off with a groin injury against Cardiff on Saturday.

And it’s a big setback for Wednesday after defeat against Cardiff dragged us back towards the automatic Championship relegation places.

Antonio has been a major influence in the team’s upsurge in form in recent months, with his pace and trickery playing a vital part in some excellent away performances.

With Connor Wickham having returned to parent club Sunderland, it’s another blow for Dave Jones in terms of attacking options and he may well turn back to the loan market to help bolster our forward threat.

Jermaine Johnson, Gary Madine and Chris Maguire will all also come into Jones’ thoughts as he starts to plan for the crucial run-in to the end of the season without Antonio – starting with two Easter ‘six-pointers’ against Bansley and Bristol City.
