Berahino in contention for Argyle clash

Recent signing Saido Berahino is available for Wednesday’s long trip to face Plymouth Argyle tomorrow.

Striker Berahino, who joined us on transfer deadline day after playing in Belgian football, has been training all week during the international break and we wait to see if Darren Moore names him in the squad for the clash with an Argyle side managed by former Owl Ryan Lowe.

Moore said: “I have got no hesitation to start him if I need to. He has had a good week’s training. He has been back in with the boys and getting all his explosive work done.

“We feel that he has got enough training volume into his game. He just needs match-minutes now.”

Sam Hutchinson and Mide Shodipo have both recovered from injury and are also fit for selection as Wednesday look to return to winning ways following defeat at Morecambe a fortnight ago.

We go into the game in fourth place on 10 points, two behind joint leaders Sunderland and Accrington, while Plymouth sit in 14th position on eight points.

Moore added: “It’s going to be a real tough game and they have a wonderful support down there, with our travelling support as well it bodes well for a great atmosphere.

“We’re expecting them to come at us and we look forward to a really good game.”
