Back in bottom three after tonight’s results

Wednesday slipped back into the Championship relegation places tonight following results elsewhere.

We went into the evening fourth from bottom but, with the scheduled home match against Wycombe postponed because of the Covid outbreak, Derby took full advantage with a 1-0 home win over Bournemouth and so move out of the drop zone and go three points ahead of us, having played one game more.

Rotherham took a point from a  3-3 home draw with Stoke to also move above us into 22nd place, one place and one point ahead of Wednesday and still with a game in hand.

We sit one place off the foot of the table, with 19 points from 23 matches and four points clear of bottom club Wycombe, who have played the same number of games.

Wednesday’s next action is the FA Cup fourth round tie at Everton on Sunday with our next Championship match being the rearranged trip to Coventry on Wednesday, January 27.
