Back in action for clash with second-placed Sunderland

Wednesday return to action after a near three-week break when we travel to second-placed Sunderland tonight.

A Covid outbreak at the club saw scheduled Christmas home games against Accrington and Burton postponed, our last division one outing being the win at Crewe on December 11.

We go into the Sunderland clash on the back of a 12-match uneaten league run which sees us sitting two places and now five points adrift of the play-offs, following Oxford’s 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon last night.

Sunderland are another of the division’s form teams and victory this evening would take them to the top of the table.

Massimo Luongo will again be missing from our midfield as he serves the second game of a three-match ban but the injured trio of Chey Dunkley, Sam Hutchinson snd Dennis Adeniran could make the squad after their lay-offs.
