Atdhe scores … and could soon face Hutch

Atdhe Nuhiu scored his first goal for new club, APOEL Nicosia, in their home Europa League qualification victory over Zrinjski Mostar this evening.

He headed the Cypriots 2-1 up but their opponents from Bosnia and Herzegovina equalised to take the game to extra time and then penalties – APOEL winning the shootout 4-2 to go through to the next round.

Nuhiu was substituted on 98 minutes, replaced by former Owls loanee Ben Sahar who made 12 appearances for us back in 2008 when on loan from Chelsea as an 18-year-old. He is currently also on loan to APOEL from Israeli side, Hapoel Beer-Sheva.

Meanwhile, Nuhiu could face former Wednesday team-mate Sam Hutchinson in the Cypriot League first division  next month, both players having made the move to Cyprus after leaving Hillsborough in the summer.

Nuhiu’s APOEL are scheduled to host Hutchinson’s Páfos FC on October 17, with the return in Paphos due to be on January 16.
