Antonio strikes winner as Owls defeat Rangers

Michail Antonio marked his place in the starting line-up with the only goal of the game in the friendly with Rangers at Hillsborough tonight.

Antonio struck after 12 minutes with a mishit effort that found its way into the net and Wednesday, with the pace of Jermaine Johnson, Jeremy Helan and Antonio proving a handful for the Rangers defence, could easily have gone in further ahead at the interval.

The visitors, backed by a vociferous army of fans in a crowd of 16,280, came more into the game after the break but failed to take their chances and Wednesday held on for victory.

We also wait to hear if there is an injury problem with Chris Kirkland who went off in the first-half and was replaced by Adam Davies.

Kirkland (Davies 30), Palmer, Mattock, McCabe (Coke 71), Taylor, Zayatte, Antonio, Prutton (Semedo 56), Madine, J Johnson (Corry 64), Helan (Maguire 49)
