Antonio boost for Jones as Owls prepare for crucial Bees clash

Dave JonesMichail Antonio is expected to be fit for our crucial trip to Brentford on Saturday.

Antonio injured his shoulder and arm after a blatant foul on him against Carlisle last Saturday – although the referee decided it wasn’t even a free kick. The winger received lengthy treatment before continuing and aggravated the injury when the players joined in celebrations after the loanee’s last-minute winner sent Hillsborough wild.

Dave Jones has now confirmed that Antonio should be okay to face the Bees but that Reda Johnson is likely to sit out another game with the thigh injury he suffered at Huddersfield at the start of the month.

It’s virtually a ‘must-win’ game for us in the season-long automatic promotion battle, with Sheff U a point clear and just two matches to go. Our rivals are at home to play-off chasing Stevenage in a late kick off on Saturday and victory for us at Brentford will put extra pressure on Sheff U, leaving them knowing that anything less than a win would mean us going into the last game of the season at home to Wycombe in the knowledge that victory would seal our promotion.

Defeat at Stevenage last Saturday means that Brentford have to win their remaining two games and hope that Stevenage lose both theirs to have any chance of making the play-offs.

The North Stand is already sold out for the Wycombe game, with 900 seats left for the Kop and a total of 2,400 in the South Stand and Grandstand.

* The London Owls are meeting at the Lord Nelson pub in Enfield Road, Brentford, TW8 9NY prior to Saturday’s match.
