Another Rotherham late show for Owls

Atdhe Nuhiu fired us into the third round of the Carabao Cup with an injury-time winner at Rotherham.

Kadeem Harris clipped an inviting cross to the far post and Nuhiu converted in front of the 2,600 Wednesday fans to win the tie 1-0 … and seal yet another last-gasp victory at the New York Stadium.

We turned in an improved second-half performance, with the introduction of Harris, Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri at various stages.

Rotherham had been the better side in the first 45 but we began to look more dangerous from the start of the second period, Nuhiu seeing an effort saved by Daniel Iversen. Then we looked to have almost taken the lead midway through the half, Iversen again thwarted Nuhiu, this time from a header, Morgan Fox knocked the rebound against the fallen Nuhiu and the ball clipped the post … only for the referee to then whistle for offside.

However, Nuhiu was not be denied and pounced to complete a hat-trick of added-time wins for the Owls at Rotherham in recent years.
