Abdi ‘passes Wednesday medical’

Almen Abdi is said to have passed a medical at Hillsborough and looks set to join the Owls in a reported £3m deal.

Sky Sports are tonight saying that the 29-year-old Watford midfielder has taken this further step towards a move to Wednesday after seemingly not figuring in the future plans of the new Hornets head coach Walter Mazzarri.

If he completes a transfer to S6, then Abdi will be linking up again with former Vicarage Road team-mate Fernando Forestieri, while Daniel Pudil could yet return to Wednesday after spending most of last season on loan from Watford.

Abdi joined Watford in 2012, initially on loan from Udinese, and has made 130 appearances for the club.
