Stuart Gray praised the players and the fans as Wednesday ended our winless run and goalless streak at Hillsborough this afternoon.
After seeing the Owls defeat Wigan 2-1, Gray said: “That was a fantastic win against a very good side.”
Gray felt the team thoroughly deserved the win, pointing to the character of the side after going a goal down, and said it was great to get a victory in front of the home fans after a two-month wait.
He said: “That was for the fans. They have been magnificent and we are all extremely grateful for their support.
“You can’t fool the supporters that is for sure. The players have to tick all the boxes in terms of application and work rate and they did that today.”
Gray added: “I’ve said to the players, let’s now build on this at Blackburn next Saturday.”
